Neil Beloufa développe depuis quelques années une oeuvre qui interroge et déjoue les systèmes de nos représentations modernes. Ses tableaux et sculptures hybrides présentent un brouillage tant visuel que conceptuel. A travers un assemblage de bouteilles, et autres déchets issus de son atelier, Neil Beloufa réalise des bas-reliefs dans lesquels sont piégés des fragments de notre réalité. L’artiste additionne souvent à ses pièces des éléments inattendus, comme des prises électriques. Pour lui, c’est une façon d’apporter une utilité secondaire à ses pièces, et leur donner ainsi, un statut autre que celui d’œuvre d’art. Un geste qui illustre le refus de la dichotomie et des interprétations manichéennes, et anime le travail de Neil Beloufa.

Over the past few years, Neil Beloufa has been developing a work that questions and foils the systems of our modern representations. His hybrid paintings and sculptures are both visual and conceptual. Through an assembly of bottles and other wastes from his workshop, Neil Beloufa realizes these bas-reliefs in which are trapped fragments of our reality.The artist often adds unexpected elements to his works, like electrical outlets. For him, it is a way to bring a secondary utility to his works, and giving them other status than that of a work of art. A gesture that illustrates the refusal of the dichotomy and Manichean interpretations, and animates the work of Neil Beloufa.
