This new work has been largely influenced by a deeper interest in the alchemy of the natural environment surrounding both my home and studio located in the coastal
region of northern California. Also inspired by the practices of biodynamic farming, these new paintings act as questions that consider the possibility of a studio practice that is self-sustaining and/or regenerative. In contemplating the way a forest or garden has this potential to reproduce itself via the many systems of pollination, composting and reseeding, I have attempted to replicate this phenomena with my daily approach to painting so that gestures, images and procedures begin to loop and perpetually return. The outcome of this approach has produced a body of work that is deeply rooted in both the order and chaos of the hyper present.

Ces nouvelles œuvres ont été largement influencées par un intérêt approfondi pour l’alchimie de l’environnement naturel qui entoure ma maison et mon studio situés dans la région côtière du nord de la Californie. Ce travail est également inspiré par les pratiques de l’agriculture biodynamique et veut questionner et envisager la possibilité d’une pratique de l’atelier qui soit autosuffisante et/ou régénératrice. En contemplant la façon dont une forêt ou un jardin a le potentiel de se reproduire via les nombreux systèmes de pollinisation, de compostage et de réensemencement, j’ai tenté de reproduire ce phénomène dans mon approche quotidienne de la peinture, de sorte que les gestes, les images et les procédures commencent à tourner en boucle et à revenir perpétuellement. Le résultat de cette approche a produit un ensemble d’œuvres profondément ancrées dans l’ordre et le chaos de l’hyper présent.
