Cette oeuvre fait partie d’une série récente de Mohamed Bourouissa dans le prolongement de son projet Horse Day initié lors d’une résidence à Philadelphie (États-Unis) en 2013. Installé dans le quartier de Fletcher Street, célèbre pour sa communauté hippique africaine américaine, il organise avec les populations locales un concours de costumes équestres. Il documente en photo et vidéo ce tournoi, en s’emparant de l’histoire du lieu, de l’imagerie du cowboy et de la conquête des espaces pour tourner un western contemporain dans la ville. De retour en France, l’artiste a produit une série de tableaux-sculptures, par un procédé de tirage numérique sur carrosserie de voiture, qui convoquent des associations entre cheval et voiture, entre western et photographie pictorialiste.

This work is part of a recent series by Mohamed Bourouissa as an extension of his Horse Day project initiated during a residency in Philadelphia (USA) in 2013. Based in the Fletcher Street district, famous for his African-American horse community, he organized with the local people a competition of equestrian costumes. He documented through video and photo this tunning, by capturing history of the place, imagery of the cowboy and visualization of spaces to shoot a contemporary western in the city. Back in France, the artist produced a series of sculptural paintings by a process of digital printing on car body parts, which bring out associations between horse and car, between Western and pictorialist photography.
